Fueling the Body
I am very active. Most mornings I am up at 4:15 to either teach, take a class or practice on my own. My IntraMax vitamins and a large glass of water are the first thing I take when I wake up. I have several shots of espresso after I take my vitamins and drink my water.
After teaching or working out I have a protein shake. My shake consists of Muscle Milk protein powder, frozen banana & berries, a cup of water, 1 tsp flaxseed, 1 tsp organic tumeric, 1 tsp organic coconut oil and 1 TBSP almond butter.
Lunch consists of a green salad with grilled chicken or fish along with almonds, dried cherries, avocado and other veggies from the frig. I enjoy some high protein pretzels or sweet potato chips with my salad and a sparkling water. Afternoon snack consists of a piece of fruit and a handful of nuts before I go teach or take class in the evening.
Dinner is usually a piece of grilled fish or chicken with some grilled veggies and a salad or starch. I love bread and butter and usually indulge! Dinner is accompanied by a large bottle of sparkling water. Some nights I enjoy dessert. I have a big sweet tooth and try to enjoy everything in moderation.
I am constantly drinking water throughout the day. I always have a BKR water bottle in my car, at my desk, with me at exhale. Staying hydrated makes me feel better. Having multiple BKR bottles ensures I always have water with me.
I refuse to put strict rules on my food behavior. Wait, so you just eat whatever you want? YES!!! How can this be healthy? Because I listen to my body. And my mind. And my emotions. I know I need to fuel my body so I can sustain my daily demands. I have long days and work hard physically and mentally and know I need to #FUEL to stay strong, focused and alert.
The key is to pay attention and tend to your needs so that you can figure out your life ingredients and your #FUEL. Once you figure out what you need you will have more energy and dedication to everything you do.
